ITALY

Italy as a country does not require much introduction to any of us. When we think of Italy we think of the good life, food, wine, long conversations over lazy meals and cobbled streets - but do we think of investment? As with any other country when we look at an established market we generally need to look at flights going to new places within that country which may open up somewhere which was not traditionally attractive as access was not good. We will from time to time offer investments in established area’s which we feel are worth investing in but the main area of growth at the moment is Calabria. Situated at by the 'toe' of Italy, it offers unspoilt beauty, incredible history and culture, not to mention an absolutely stunning investment opportunity. Rapidly improving transport links and low cost flights into the regions International airport are opening up Calabria to property investment.

Who It Suits

The first group of investors that springs to mind when I think of Italy is the part holiday homes, part investor group. Italy is and always will be one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe so therefore it suits people who would like a holiday home but do not want to bear the full cost themselves. It also suits investors who want to stick to very established markets near home.

The Pro’s

• Italy is a well established destination which almost all of us have experience of.
• Many budgets airlines travel to Italy and once you are careful to observe the transfer times many airports are within reach of the newer resorts.
• Mortgages are readily available to investors

The Con’s

• Purchase taxes are quite high although as property prices are low this is not so bad.
• The season for rentals is mainly focussed around the summer and therefore you can expect empty periods in winter unlike for example the properties we offer in Fuerteventura.
